REEF SERVICES
Measuring and predicting the consequences of climate change on coral reef ecosystems and the services they provide
REEF SERVICES investigated how climate change affects coral reef ecosystems and the key services they provide to humans, including food provision and coastal protection. Led by CRIOBE (France) – Centre de Recherches Insulaires et Observatoire de l’Environnement in collaboration with international partners, the project examined ecological and biogeochemical processes under climate stress. The Marine Symbiomes Research Group, led by Ulisse Cardini, focused on hard coral calcification and its role in coastal protection, linking ecosystem functioning to the services reefs provide.
